If you’re new to the psychic world then you may be a bit confused about all of the different types of advisors and readings you can experience. For example, love and relationship experts focus on matters of the heart whereas tarot and astrology are two specific skills that a general advisor may or may not have. But what about the difference between medium readings and psychic readings? Let’s clear up any confusion so you can choose the right advisor for you.
What Does a Psychic Advisor Do?
For starters, while all mediums are psychic, not all psychics are mediums—let us explain. Psychics rely on their intuition to collect data about one’s past, present, and/or future. This is achieved by reading the recipient’s energy field, using divination tools like tarot or astrology, or even connecting with spirit guides. Areas of concern are typically related to love and relationships, career, goal-setting, decision-making, and closure. Psychic readings provide clarity, peace of mind, self-discovery, and confidence.
What Is a Medium Then?
This type of advisor has the special gift of being able to communicate with the deceased (person or pet), so you wouldn’t make an appointment to discuss topics such as your relationship or a new job offer. Their only goals are to provide individuals with the comfort of knowing their departed loved ones are still a part of their lives, to banish the fear of death, to deliver messages from the deceased, and to provide closure and bereavement support. People also book a session with a medium in order to learn more about their past lives or spirit guides so it’s not always about connecting with someone you knew in your lifetime.
While mediumship is somewhat of a controversial practice that can be difficult to wrap your head around (especially because movies often portray the practice in an over-the-top, sensationalized manner), rest assured there are professionals who possess this extraordinary ability if you wish to correspond with someone in the spiritual world.
How a Mediumship Reading Works
Each medium has their own way of working and corresponding with the spirit world, but it’s interesting to note that they don’t usually use divination tools like astrology, tarot, etc., to do so. Rather, they rely on their intuition and mental images or audible messages—a medium is typically able to pass along a message to the deceased. This is done by tapping into the vibration of the spirit(s). It’s important to note that spirits vibrate at a higher frequency than living beings so, in order to make contact, a medium must raise their vibration while the spirit has to lower theirs until they meet in the middle—hence the name “medium.” As you might imagine, this is not always easy to do which is why you have to be prepared to have an “off” reading now and again—but this doesn’t necessarily mean the reader isn’t talented unless you keep having issues.
How to Prepare Yourself for a Medium Reading
Here’s the thing. If you still have a lot of open wounds and don’t necessarily feel emotionally stable yet, hold off on getting a mediumship reading for a while. You really have to be in a stable state because you may not like what you’re going to hear. The last thing you need is to feel worse during an already difficult time. It may be a better idea for you to get a general psychic reading first. This way you can come up with a plan to clear any emotional roadblocks so you can move forward to the next phase—communicating with a deceased loved one.
Once you’re ready, make sure you amply prepare for your session by having as much information about your family history as possible—this includes your spouse or significant other’s side. If you’re trying to communicate with a pet, just gather as much intel as you have about where it was born, previous owners, parents, etc. Come up with a list of compelling, open-ended questions that cannot be answered with a simple “yes” or “no” For example, “Why didn’t my mom want me to see her before she died?” versus “Is my mom upset she didn’t see me before she died?”
